Bobbie as a spectator2I’m not one who believes in tooting my own horn but like Joshua, sometimes you just gotta blow! Kudos to the Corral team for getting this issue out on time in spite of an amazing number of personal issues. Michelle’s Step-Father passed away after a long battle with heart disease. Joe’s Mother had knee surgery. I’m writing this from the hospital where my Mother has been for a week and is having a heart procedure today. Oh, and my Dad fell and injured his leg! Too much to make up but as Joe put on his Facebook page, “prayers needed for our old folks, the rest of us could use a glass of wine.” The issues we faced caused us all to work some strange hours, make changes to our plans and rely on each other for support and assistance. And thanks to that, the Corral was sent to the printer on time.
Deadlines are like the two minute gate rule at a show. Joe announced a COSCA show this past weekend and he felt bad about having to enforce the two minute gate rule a couple of times. Having sat in on several of his Announcer’s Seminars, I know he puts a big emphasis on those first, second and third calls to the gate and have no doubt he was doing that at this show. He did feel better about it after reading what someone posted on the COSCA website: “Great show last weekend—really enjoyed the announcer. He was easy to understand, kept us informed as to class sizes, schedules and timing, and did it with a sense of humor. I also appreciated the 2-minute gate; most participants are ready to show on time and it has always irritated me that a few, for whatever reason, are habitually late for their class, and the rest of us are forced to wait. Anyway, would really like have him as an announcer at a future show.”
This month, some club news and editorial didn’t make it in because we just couldn’t accommodate those who missed our deadline. I trust you appreciate what it took to get the Corral out on time as much as I do. Thank you for so many comments and prayers for our families. I hope your families are well.
Remember the October deadline is September 15!
